Block mounting or board mounting is the process of bonding a print or canvas onto an MDF block. We bond the artwork onto an MDF board using a hot vacuum press and can add a final spectacular finish with a laminate film or varnish.Why?
Block mounting adds extra depth and dimension to artwork and photographs, and provides the perfect framework for hanging purposes. The heat sealing process provides an ultimate protective layer and helps to maintain a long-term crispness and vibrancy.Canvas prints can look particularly impressive mounted this way. The sides of the print/mount can be painted either with matte black or white emulsion, or they can be ‘gallery’ wrapped around the sides of the block so that they become an integral part of the picture.
This type of mount is popular in retail and leisure environments due to its cost-effectiveness and longevity.
